WATCH – Mumbai Police Ask Muslims to Pray for India in Tarawih amid Crippling Covid-19 Crisis

MUMBAI – Police in Indian state of Maharashtra have appealed to Muslims to pray for the South Asian country where a record number of people are dying of the COVID-19 infection every single day.

In a video making rounds on on social media, Mumbai Police officers can be seen urging the Muslims to pray to Allah Almighty during the Tarawih – the special prayers performed at night after Isha prayers during the holy month of Ramadan.

The clip was recorded in Kalyan, a part of Mumbai Metropolitan Region, and shows a cop standing behind his patrol vehicle using a megaphone to address the residents of a Muslim neighbourhood.

In the video, the police officer first felicitates the faithful on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan. Afterward, he urged all Muslims to pray for the safety of everyone as hospitals in major cities are at their breaking point.

“We know that you offer Tarawih prayers in this holy month and Allah answers all your requests during the special prayers. Therefore we request to all the Muslim community to pray for the country as the second wave of novel virus intensifies in India,” says a police officer, as he addresses the locals.

Adding to his address, he further highlighted that some of the residents flouted Covid-19 SOPs for fun. “We know who broke the law but we didn’t take action ignoring the situation at times,” he adds.

The emotional cop also denied all rumors about Covid-19 that is endangering the entire human race.

Since shared across social media platforms, this 2-minute clip has inspired many at a time when India’s coronavirus situation has gone out of control.

Just today, the second-largest population witnessed its deadliest day since the pandemic started last year as the government battled to get oxygen supplies to thousands of critical cases. The new world pandemic has now reported nearly one million new cases in three days. Another 2,624 died in 24 hours, taking the official toll to nearly 190,000 since the pandemic started.
