Three visitors booked for ‘Dishonouring’ Priest King at Mohenjo Daro

KAHIRPUR: Three unidentified visitors to the famous archaeological site of Sindh have landed in trouble for posting a picture showing a humiliating hand gesture to a life-size replica of Priest-King at a site of Mohenjo Daro.

The pitiable act draws public ire as social media was all abuzz. Netizens demanded the authorities to take action against the persons involved in disrespecting the iconic sculpture representing the rich history of Indus Valley.

The criticism on social media compelled Sindh Culture Minister to take notice of the issue. The authorities then asked the DG Antiquities to take strict action against the concerned persons.

Later, Sindh Police Sunday booked an official complaint under Section 295-A against three unknown persons who dishonored the monument. The case has been lodged on the complaint of the sites’ watchman.

Let it be known that the famous Priest-King artifact was discovered during the era of archeologist John Marshall who supervised excavations of Harappa and Mohenjo Daro in 1920.
