Simon Cowell cancels ‘X Factor Israel’ appearance amid recent atrocities in Gaza

TEL AVIV: English media mogul Simon Cowell has called off his scheduled gig as a judge on the upcoming season of X Factor Israel – a TV music competition.

The move comes days after the Jewish state intensified its airstrikes in Gaza following a conflict of forceful eviction of Palestinian families from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of the strip.

According to some reports in International media, a number of factors were involved in the cancellation of Simon’s apprerance in X factor Israel and global outcry against Israeli barbarism is top of the list besides his ‘personal reasons’.

Meanwhile, the production company behind the show while speaking with a British media outlet told that the staff of the 61-year-old TV personality cited ‘legitimate concerns’ about his appearance in the Middle East show. The statement also added that Cowell cancelled the appearance for his ‘own reasons’.

Reports further added that Cowell’s spokesperson didn’t comment on the recent Israeli attacks on oppressed Palestinians while a news outlet quoted an Israeli TV report which stated that ‘Simon is bitterly disappointed about the situation in Palestine’.

Prior to recent skirmishes in the Middle East region, Simon signed up to be for the upcoming series of X Factor Israel. The show was preliminarily scheduled to be started in late 2020, but later production was pushed back until mid-2021. Simon after signing the show said he can barely wait to see what the people of Israel have to offer.

Time onwards from the start of the Covid pandemic has been harsh for the TV mogul as he canceled a number of shows, including the most famous Britain’s Got Talent, as he faced a back injury after tumbling from an electric bike. Later, he underwent spinal surgery which took weeks for recovery.
