‘Sick heist’ – old man and accomplice pretending to be unwell, rob doctor, staff and patients waiting for turn

KARACHI – Amid the rise in armed robberies in Pakistan’s financial capital, an elderly mugger and his ‘partner in crime’ ambushed and robbed a dentist and his associate during the consultation in the clinic.

According to the CCTV footage of the premises, Ayesha Manzil, the incident occurred on May 21. Two of the robbers can be seen consulting about oral health with the medical practitioner.

During the consultation, the younger accomplice of the aged mugger with a ponytail can be seen standing up from the bench while taking out his hand weapon. He then pointed the short-barreled firearm at the doctor who was writing a prescription.

The bandits then directed the dentist to sit on the floor while they started depriving the valuables and other belongings.

In the meanwhile, another man, who seemed to be the associate of the dentist, entered the room and the muggers also held him hostage and started checking him to find any worthy item or cash.

At the 01:05 frame of the CCTV footage, the sharp-witted doctor can be seen concealing a stash of cash in a hole as robbers were busy checking his laptop bag. Minutes after taking the two men hostage, the bandits then managed to flee.

The police have lodged a case with the help of recorded footage while no arrests have been made yet and further investigations are underway.

Earlier in the first week of this month, Karachiites, who seemed to fed up with the continuous lawlessness, nabbed two robbers in the Gulshan area who the bandits used to loot locals in disguise of food delivery boys.
