LAHORE: Provincial authorities have banned Aitekaf in cities with high positivity rates and permitted Aitekaf in only 10 districts.
Punjab’s Primary and Secondary Health Department issued a notice regarding the issue which states the cities as per their positivity rates of the disease.
The adherence of Aitekaf will be allowed in the districts having low COVID-positive cases, the notification recites.
The districts which are permitted to conduct Aitekaf include Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Chiniot, Gujrat, Okara, Attock, Sialkot, Dera Ghazi Khan, Hafizabad, and Jhang.
The move comes up in wake of a high number of serious patients in parts of Punjab. National Health Services chaired a high-level meeting with NCOC to converse the procedures for the last 10 days of the sacred month.

The ongoing pandemic has claimed 8,572 lives while the number of coronavirus cases in the province surpassed 306,920. The total recoveries across Punjab were documented at 253,687.
