WASHINGTON: The problems that likely led to the end of the world’s richest couple marriage have continued to emerge as in the latest revelation board of tech giant Microsoft forced Gates to resign after he admitted having an intimate relationship with a female company employee.
As per the latest updates in US mainstream media, it is quite uncertain for now that what role the affair, which occurred 20 years back, takes part in the split of 27 years of marriage – which occurred earlier this month.
The Board of the top tech company urged Mr. Gates to step down as they pursued a probe into the billionaire’s intimate affair with a staffer that was deemed inappropriate.
The board members hired a law firm to launch a probe in late 2019 after the secret partner of the billionaire alleged that she had a sexual relationship with Gates.
Following the secret affair story, board members decided it was no longer suitable for Bill to lead the multinational company as a director. He then resigned in March 2020 before the probe completed.
Reports in The Times stated that ‘Bill had developed a reputation of questionable conduct in work-related settings. He pursued women who worked for him at Microsoft on few occasions’.
Meanwhile, a statement issued by Gates spokeswoman stated ‘There was an affair almost 2 decades ago which ended amicably.’
The startling revelations surfaced after the world’s fourth-richest person announced divorce while her ex-wife, in her petition for divorce, called the relationship an ‘irretrievably broken’ marriage
The public persona of the top philanthropist has also changed in recent times as revelations shocked the world about Microsoft’s co-founder who abused his power.
