Invisible sculpture named ‘I am’ sold for around PKR 3 million in Italy

Art pieces are truly mystifying things to understand as people interpret different ideas about the message of the artist and in the bizarre case of abstract art, an Italian artist sells a sculpture of absolutory nothing for $18,000, around 3 Million PKR, which comes with ‘a certificate of authenticity to prove its existence.

Sardinian-born Salvatore Garau is the artist behind the exclusive invisible sculpture which he named ‘I am’.  The art that garnered $18,000 obviously doesn’t come in any shape or size as you can’t touch it.

Yes, you heard it right. Another fascinating thing about the incident is the anonymity of the buyer, the name who bought the art earlier this month is not known yet which purges the doubts that somebody could spend this amount by getting in the limelight. It further depicted his love for art as he can’t be able to touch or even make somebody see what he got in spending the amount equivalent to 30 iPhone 11.

Reports of British media cited that the invisible sculpture is to be displayed in a 5*5 ft space in a private space without artificial lighting.

Garau termed his ‘masterpiece’ as ‘vacuum’ because the vacuum referred to a place more than space ‘full of energy.’ His contributions are for people not interesting in physical substances but the idea.

The 67-year-old artist while expressing his thoughts about the art said ‘I Am’, may not exist in a physical state but that does not mean that it’s nothing. The piece exists in the mind of its creator. The art comprised energy that is condensed and transformed into particles, that is, into us’, the artist further narrated.

Art-Rite –the auction house which organised the sale of the untouchable art also refused to reveal the identity of the buyer.

Meanwhile, ‘I am’ sparked hot debates as users were quick to offer to sell their artworks-that obviously followed the idea of invisibility.

This is not the first time he shocked the world with such art, another invisible sculpture which he named ‘Buddha in Contemplation’ existed before ‘I am’.  Earlier, Garau also shared a clip of ‘Buddha in Contemplation on Instagram that shows a square made from white tape and that’s in the middle of an empty Piazza Della Scala, Milan.

He also got attention with abstract painting on a 650ft piece of tarpaulin, which was then dangled across scaffolding in Milan’s church.
