Conor McGregor’s lookalike jailed for pretending to be UFC star while selling drugs

LONDON – A drug peddler who impersonated MMA fighter Conor McGregor has been sentenced to three years in UK prison for dealing drugs.

Mark Nye, 34, told police officers his name was Conor after being pulled over in a bid to dispose of drugs and two smartphones earlier in February. He was arrested in the London suburb of Stanwell in February.

“A search of the address Mark was staying at revealed a large amount of boric acid, a cutting agent which is used by dealers to cut drugs and can have serious health implications for users themselves,” Surrey police investigating officer PC Mcgill said in a released statement. “Officers also found a large cleaver readily accessible by his bed.”

Interestingly, the cops found hundreds of business cards for McGregor Enterprise which stated “Best drops in Surrey”. The bagman had been using the business cards featuring Conor McGregor, on of  the most popular star in UFC history, as part of his drug dealing.

The police also mentioned that the fake UFC athlete maintained his look as McGregor did, including a faded haircut with moderate facial hair.

Upon investigation, law enforcers also discovered tons of messages in relation to drug peddling in different cities. A large number of chemical agents, used by dealers to cut drugs, were recovered from the premises of the Nye.

The fake Conor was sentenced to nearly three years, pleading guilty to possession of class A drugs with the intent to supply, in Guildford Crown Court.

On the other hand, the real Conor McGregor himself has been relatively successful in avoiding prison. In 2018 the athlete was sentenced to five days of community service and ordered to attend anger management classes after involving in a dispute in New York City.
