Xulfi takes the reins of Coke Studio season 14 as Rohail Hyatt bows out

Celebrated Pakistani singer, composer, and music producer Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan, also known as Xulfi, has taken the wheel for the upcoming season of Coke Studio.

The much-anticipated development comes with a tweet that was made from the official Twitter handle of the country’s renowned music platform. Xulfi was also tagged in the post which reads ‘Shuru Karein?’ The ace musician was quick enough to reply to the tweet with an emoticon.

Khan also shared the development on his official Instagram where he captions the post as ‘The journey begins’. The 40-year-old shared an aesthetic picture of a branded folder of Coke Studio labeled ‘Beyond the Wave’ whereas the tagline reads ‘transcending boundaries.’

The paradigm shift stemmed from the development that occurred back in March this year when Rohail Hyatt, one who launched Coke Studio in 2008, has another time announced a break from the music franchise. He earlier signed off in 2013 and returned again for the 12th season in 2019.

The Bandya crooner announced his exit on Twitter while responding to a query posed by a fan. When asked, he said ‘I am sure Coke Studio is being planned but not by me.’ He further added that former EP frontman Xulfi will be an apt replacement for him.

On the other hand, Xulfi, while speaking with a Pakistani news outlet told that ‘there is always a possibility of him leading the charge. Every year, there’s this news. So, there’s a probability of doing Coke Studio every year. No one knows and let’s see what the future holds.’ he clarified.

The music maestro is making headlines while fans are singing praises for the famed musician. He is known for his everlasting contributions to other music franchises including Nescafe Basement and Pepsi Battle of the Bands.

Let it be known that, Xulfi was the composer and guitarist for former rock Band Entity Paradigm, which featured actor Fawad Khan as a lead vocalist while he also composed and produced Tayyar Hain – the anthem for the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League, in 2020.

He previously produced Hum Aik Hain under the banner of the same music franchise and was also roped into to do Coke Studio Explorer before the latter was called off in season 12.
