WATCH – Three men saving villager booked for killing a leopard

ABBOTTABAD: Locals killed a leopard in Abbottabad’s Circle Bakote area after it entered the populated area on Tuesday.

Three of the villagers named Abdul Rahim, Wajid and Zaheer have been booked for killing the four-legged carnivore. A video of the incident went viral on social media, where it can be seen how a man is clubbing a leopard repeatedly to death by a stick.

The injured senior citizen and his family members claimed that the leopard attacked him while he was on his way home after which he sustained severe injuries including a broken arm. Locals rushed at the spot to save the man but they also killed the leopard.”

According to the Punjab wildlife act of 1974, Section 23 it is not the offense “to kills any wild animals by any means in the immediate defence of his own life or that of any other person.”

On another side, the wildlife department said that “They have to inform the Wildlife Department and law-enforcing agencies instead of taking the extreme step. The action has been taken under wildlife act 2015 according to which the punishment is one-year imprisonment or fine up to Rs100,000 or both,” The News reported.
