Talk about influencing – PM Khan just shared country’s first ski resort pics in Deosai for his local and international followers
ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan Tuesday shared awe-inspiring pictures of the Deosai ski traverse and announced that the incumbent PTI government is working to promote winter tourism in Pakistan.
The premier while taking it to micro-blogging site Twitter captioned “Exploring winter tourism and ski resorts feasibility, Deosai plains first-ever winter ski traverse.
The premier while announcing the country’s first winter ski resort posted a number of pictures of skiers traversing in the snows of Deosai – a high-altitude alpine plain and national park in the Northern Pakistan region of the Astore district Gilgit Baltistan.
The Tourism Department of Gilgit Baltistan had recently launched a ski traverse event to encourage winter tourism in the snow covering the region.
Deosai, the land of giants, is the second-highest plateau after Chang Thang Plateau Tibet, located in northern areas of Gilgit Baltistan. It is completely snowbound and cut off from December to May every year.
PM Khan, who repeatedly emphasized that there is a dire need to explore and promote the huge untapped tourism potential in Pakistan, mentioned that mountain tourism along with skiing at the undiscovered tourist sites in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Northern Areas will change the life of locals other than garnering massive financial profits for the provincial government.
