‘End of an era’ – Strings officially disbands

KARACHI – The iconic pop-rock band Strings disbands after more than 3 decades on Thursday (today) as Bilal Maqsood has left millions of music fans heartbroken by the startling announcement.

Taking it to social site Twitter, the official handle of the legendary band wrote ‘this post is a bit different from the usual. We have decided that today, 25/03/2021, is the day we graciously get to conclude Strings.

It further added that the past 33 years have been incredible for both of us. It’s so rare to have to chance to be able to do things like this and we are infinitely grateful to all of our fans for making it possible. We hope you found it worthwhile as well.

While the band technically may not be together anymore, both of us share an inseparable bond that will connect us no matter where life takes us. The emotional message ends with a thank you so much for everything.

The Strings comprises Faisal Kapadia, Bilal Maqsood, Adeel Ali, Haider Ali, Aahad Nayani, and Bradley D’Souza. It all started as a college band in the 1980s which initially comprised of four lively lads. The band has reinvented itself in the year 2000 after a break in the ’90s. The smashes like Duur, ‘Hum Hi Hum, and Yeh hai Meri Kahani turned the game for then which revived the band’s popularity especially among the pop-loving youngsters.

Besides sharing the classics in four seasons of Coke Studio, Strings had also contributed in B.Town as they have composed and sang for numerous Bollywood films including Zinda, John Day, and Shootout at Lokhandwala.

The powerhouse also bags the title of the first Pakistani band to ever sing in an international film. It also holds MTV international award in the year 2005.
