KARACHI – Renowned dramatist and novelist Haseena Moin breathed her last in the wee hours on Friday.
According to the family sources, the notorious writer was battling cancer for the past few years and succumbed at the age of 79.
On March 22, the ‘Haseena Aapa’ visited the Arts Council of Pakistan to get vaccinated against the novel Covid-19.
The news of the sad demise made national headlines as people from all walks of life along with celebrities and politicians offered their condolences and remembered her.

The US Embassy also tweeted in accordance. ‘We have lost two incredible women and legends of the Pakistani TV industry, Haseena Moin and Kanwal Naseer. Haseena Moin was an iconic playwright who was renowned for empowering women characters in her plays. Kanwal Naseer was Pakistan’s first television presenter and anchor’, the caption cited.

The literary genius was born on November 20, 1941, in Kanpur, India. She started writing in her teenage and by the age of 20, she wrote skits for the popular weekly radio programme Studio Number Nau.
The Dhoop Kinare writer was known for her plays for national radio and television. She was also awarded the Pride of Performance for her extraordinary services. Her career comprised more than four decades.

She wrote some of the finest dramas in the history of Pakistan including Zabar Pesh, Ankahi, Dhoop Kinaray, Aahat, Uncle Urfi, Parchhaiyan, and Tanhaiyan.
