Bar Councils collectively issue statement demanding waiters to stop wearing black suits

LAHORE – In yet another bizarre event in Pakistan, lawyers in the South Asian country believe that no one should be allowed to wear a ‘black suit’ as only legal professionals have the right to wear this particular attire.

The Punjab, Islamabad, and Balochistan Bar Council in their collective statement said that many of the waiters in marriage halls and restaurants have been wearing their uniform which needs to stop at the earliest.

The statement further added that If anybody will found in the uniform of a lawyer at any place, marriage halls, hotels, or event hall, they need to be booked under the relevant provision of law.

The collective legal advisors requested the Chief Secretary Punjab to issue a circular to all districts to ban wearing the black attires in the mentioned places.

It is pertinent to mention that this is not the first time for any event as a division bench of Lahore High Court dismissed an intra-court appeal in the year 2015 which sought the court to bar waiters at restaurants from wearing black suits. The judge then trashed the petition saying that the court could not issue directions on what citizens could or could not wear.
